Stocking Ideas

Postby JensenBreck » Tue Oct 10, 2017 6:26 am

Hey guys,

my tank is a 20G high heavily planted, I had 1 Bolivian Ram, 6Nerite snails, 5 Guppies, 1 African Dwarf Frog for 7 months (Thinking of rehoming my adfin a 5-10g). Could I get two red honey gouramis or other fishes in my tank or it would be overstocking?

Thanks

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

You probably should remove the frog or guppies.. Good chance frog will eventually kill or try to eat the guppies.
Not sure if the ram can co-exist or not.
In general, the aquatic frogs should be in a species tank, although I have kept large plecos in with them.
OTOH, I have had the African clawed frogs (not the dwarf variety) eat plecos too.

Gouramis are kind of tricky with smaller fish too. They would probably be ok, but there is a chance a male gourami (even a honey gourami) could constantly chase the guppies, especially the male ones.

The bioload is not a problem, but you have potential compatibility issues.
